Two of the most valuable actions a player can do is (1) break lines with passes and (2) draw in opponents with off-ball movement.

Look at this GIF. Pogba's line-breaking pass ends up with Bruno whose gravity draws THREE players.

Then, he flicks the ball quickly to Martial which essentially takes those players out of the game.

These small aspects make the biggest of differences especially when we begin to view football through the lense of spacing and positioning.

Notice how Wan-Bissaka's run on the right drags the left back away from Fernandes which gives him a nice pocket to enter into. If Wan-Bissaka doesn't move then there is a greater chance of Pogba not playing the initial pass.

Lastly, notice how impactful Martial's run is. He lays the ball off to Rashford but he doesn't wait for Rashford to receive it. Rather, he makes his run as soon as he releases it which forces Rashford to look for the return.

All of these small things together = big results.
