Throughout September we are going right back to the beginning, shining a well-deserved spotlight on our magnificent partners and their research in #Ethiopia #Myanmar #Bangladesh on parliaments, politics, and people.
We start with Mi Cherry Soe Mon, who has been investigating barriers to women’s political participation in southern #Myanmar and integrated an arts-based approach by working with an artist to produce cartoon illustrations that help easily convey key findings and messages.
Integrating arts and research to reduce gender inequalities has been a cornerstone of Mi Cherry Soe’s project & approach. She took the novel and bold decision to put one of the cartoons on display on billboards around southern Myanmar where they can be seen from local hluttaws...
...as part of a larger advocacy programme aimed at increasing the number of women parliamentarians at #Myanmar’s November 2020 elections.
