So ive been researching painting and it’s intentionally dead. The fact that art teachers bully students (thousands of accounts) who like realism painting and they don’t teach it is fucked up. Look at that water in the paintings they hate, which is amazing, even my super into art
Dad freaked out over it, contrast that with “boring” and “anyone can do it”, than contrast it with the art speak justifying that other painting. In which anyone can literally do. It’s monumentally weird. Like why are they clearly killing off a artform? How in the hell is that
Shit on? I’ve seen studies that people clearly like and have a reaction more to realistic painting more than abstract esque modern art, so why is one the only one taught in art school. The only reasons i see are that 3D painting is a lie, which is laughable because that means
Nothing, or some people say nudes are sexist. Which is fair to shit on if you think that but Boug/uereau (the main painter of this type) opened up the academies to women, meanwhile Pica/sso was a relentless abuser of women, so seems to counter that in the ethics of the painter
They worship. But there’s just a massive gap in 19th century art and it’s because these types of painters are relentlessly shit on and their style is no longer taught on a mass scale in reputable institutions. I agree with this, it’s a monstrous double take.
They replaced it with this artwork, this is what is winning the top art awards. (T/urner prize). If painting has to come with a handbook, surely that defeats the point. Who would visit a museum for this?
Now I’m the opposite of a conservative and i don’t care about things changing (silent film/crooning/8 bit games), but when i see students getting bullied for wanting to learn actual painting and then not get taught it, also a bunch of legit artists getting shit on,i have to speak
Up. I will dedicate my life promoting realism in painting. P/icasso and P/ollock are obviously masters and it can co exist, but ive spent the day looking at painting like this and it gave me a reaction i though only film or music or literature could. I just don’t get that looking
At distorted humans, squares or splashed lines. It might take a paragraph to mention it represents how it represents darkness and inner emotions, but it doesn’t represent mine. I have W/arhol in my bio but a painted soup can... lol. A bunch of bullies have over taken a creative
Space and trust me from the results the whole artform is dying. I truly believe with a little promotion we could restart major interest in art, but we have to leave this stuff to the geeks and critics, so they can jerk each other off with paragraphs over squares.

Or lights being turned off automatically. I can’t imagine a lil kid going to a museum and seeing that dreary shit and being like wtf. It’s why i think critics and awards are a net negative now, because they only represent a in groups taste and critics and awards will always only
Represent the group that they represent. Taste dictators have been pushing what they only like, super technical geeky stuff to the detriment of the public. I can’t wait to give em a good kick up the ass
. Anyway yeah, just imo super tired, end thread.
