The discussion back then was on 10 or 12 LPG cylinders. That was the joke on India's middle class.
No government has done so much for the poor as the present administration. Be it Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM Garib Kalyan, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

On the informal sector - there is no worker protection, no job security and low wages. To condemn India and Indians to the informal sector has been the legacy of Nehruvian Socialism.
The present government has systematically made an attempt towards greater formalization of the informal sector. This is important because greater financial inclusion, access to insurance and social security products will provide a comprehensive social security net.
Perhaps, @RahulGandhi should ask Dr MMS whether greater formalization is good or bad for the economy. While he's at it, he should also sign up for some introductory economics courses on Coursera. Attaching a link below for his reference! https://www.coursera.org/learn/intro-economic-theories
