RE: Goretzka's transformation: I am a former dancer. I formerly represented my nation in baseball. I have trained with, and then later trained D1 and eventual professional athletes. I have studied the fields of athletic performance, human movement, and muscle-building for well
Over fifteen years and about five of that in university and have my own experience with a wide range of athletes. I have also had numerous teammates that took PEDs, and have been well-educated on their forms, functions, and effects on the body.
And I can say categorically and
And I can say categorically and
With absolute conviction that anyone who believes Leon Goretzka's muscle-building endover of the last year or so is unrealistic has no idea what they are talking about. It isn't steroids. It's basic sports science, exceptional genetics, hard work, and an unprecedented amount of
Time for a footballer to be able to alter their training.
Summer months are normally meant for vacation and recovery, not absurd muscle-building endeavors. Yet when an athlete is presented with a several month break in the middle of a season, it creates the chance to achieve

Such results. I will lay out my beliefs here from the perspective of someone truly educated in the topic.

First, the tools Leon had at his disposal. 1) World class training facilities. The Säbener Strasse Performance Center is a training facility unlike most on earth and is
Stocked with some of the most preeminent nutritionists and trainers in the world, led by the Scientific Director and Head of Training Prof. Dr. Holger Brioch, who is venerated in his field.
2) a lifetime of endurance athletics that laid the foundation for the most effective

Hypertrophy program possible. I will get into this more in a bit.
3) Time. This is the most important factor. He had the onus to stay in shape yet because of the predetermined time frame of the break, had enough time for those activities to stray far from football alone.

Now let's talk about endurance's role in hypertrophic workouts. Hypertrophy means the pure gain of muscle mass irrespective of strength gains. These workouts are characterized by short rest times, moderate weight, and 8-12 reps per set. His status as an endurance athlete was
Pivotal to his success here because of a concept known as lactate threshold. Lactate threshold isthe point at which the body consumes so much oxygen in the course of a workout that it can no longer pump out lactic acid, which is the primary cause of muscular soreness and fatigue.
Endurance athletes are renowned for their lactate threshold because it is what allows them to operate at max effort for such great distances and lengths. If one has a high lactate threshold, it would be far more prominent in a hypertrophy system than a pure strength-building one.
More sets means more reps which means more muscle, and it also directly relates to their ability to recover and work out again quickly. This is in addition to the cutting edge recovery facilities at the Säbener Strasse.
Through this alone, Leon already was poised for success

That normal people could never accomplish in this time frame.
He is also a professional athlete for a reason, pure genetic talent. Leon at 6'2"/188 cm already had a large frame that hadn't remotely been filled out, and is in his absolute biological prime. He had plenty of room

For natural growth. If he were given optimal 2x/days concentrated in his chest, shoulders, and arms (the three fastest growing muscle groups for men besides legs), he could easily put on substantial size quickly.
Next is the concept of "Beginner Gainz." Leon did have a lithe
Next is the concept of "Beginner Gainz." Leon did have a lithe
Frame when he began with Bayern, which at most was a result of his long frame and emphasis on his lower body. As anyone who has spent time around weights knows, you'll never see as fast of results as you see when you first begins hypertrophic workouts.
In this regard, Leon was
In this regard, Leon was
In a truly unique position of having the perfect endurance base and full "Beginner Gainz" potential to have unusual results. He literally had the perfect storm to build his current Tarzan-esque build.
And yet, his abs did not drastically progress.
And yet, his abs did not drastically progress.
They're defined, yes, but do not remotely match his hupper body development, which further helps his case. The natural limit for the average person is between 2-4lbs of muscle pain per month. He feasibly could have put 10-12lbs of very defined muscle to just three muscle groups
And seen a huge change in his physique. And even then, he is only obviously big at full flex, as shown from this picture after the final, which is far more in line with every "before" picture taken.
In short, Leon Goretzka had enough natural tools at his disposal that the assumption he took steroids or PEDs without a positive test is baseless, uneducated, and borderline jealously either on your own behalf or your lazy favorite team. Leon Goretzka is natural.
