Hey, 5SOS Fam. Don't let this flop. We may have different opinion but I'd like you to read this thread and hear me.
We're all disappointed, angry and frustrated with the results at the VMAs. We honestly and firmly believed that 5SOS deserves to win. ++

We poured efforts, arranged a mass voting, collaborated with other fandoms, stayed up late, waited for power hour every day and cast hundreds of votes. It was disappointing in a way that no matter how hard we tried, we still lost and didn't get what we want for the boys. ++

Be angry. Be mad. Go rant. That's your choice. I understan you. But, I want you to understand all of these.
Two categories can be won by casting votes. They're fan-based. The bigger the fandom, the bigger the chance of winning. More fans, more votes. ++

JB and Arianna have millions of fans and are huge pop icons. They're two different celebrities, which also means that they have literally two massive fandoms working together. 5SOS is a band having one main fandom to back them up. The logic was simple - more fans, more votes. ++

Our number is way too small compared to them. Even when we had a collab with other fandoms, it still wasn't enough. The fact is that, from the start, we have a 50-50 chance of winning. Considering the current situation of our fandom, we can't fully say that we are on full force.+

We have to accept the fact that we lost due to our size. We have a chance, but even that chance isn't enough to get us there. No matter how hard we try and fought, some things just can't be won, especially if there are prevailing circumstances that affect our efforts. ++

Also, I would like to take note and put emphasis on the world of music nowadays - how it changed and evolved. Pop music/solos/icons are in the mainstream now and the rock bands era is slowly fading. It's far more different when bands once conquer the world in early 2000s. ++

Bands aren't really a thing now, though the spirit of bands especially rock, pop punk lives among us who have been there when music was once plagued by bands. 5SOS is flexible. See how their music evolved and they keep on thriving despite the challenges of today's generations. ++

5SOS is a rock band. Look back at how they conquered the world back in 2012 to early 2016 era. Look back at how powerful the fandom and the band. Now look at today's generation and the movement in music. Still, you see 5SOS and how their existence still meant for us. ++

There are a lot of factors to be considered. We cannot fully blame MTV because 5SOS didn't get the awards. We lack in numbers. Our efforts weren't enough. Pop solos supremacy is undeniable these days. We have to understand that and see things outside of hate and anger. ++

I'm still proud that 5SOS got nominated. For a band to be nominated in an era where bands aren't in the mainstream anymore, in my opinion, is already an achievement & something to be proud of. 5SOS is one of the proofs that bands still exist & the spirit of pop rock lives on. ++

I'm disappointed too. But I choose to look at the good things, stay & radiate positive energy. 5SOS wouldn't want us to fight & send hate. That's not what 5SOS taught us. Choosing the light over darkness - that's what 5SOS have showed and taught us over the years. ++

Looking at us fam, I'm proud that we have that kind of energy & vigor in supporting and loving 5SOS. I'm proud of us trying to save them because that's what real fans do. I'm proud of all of us who stayed and voted even when we felt like we're losing already. I proud of that.+

I love the love that surrounds us and the soldier in us that wakes up whenever 5SOS faces adversity or is nominated for an award. I'm proud and I love you, as much as how I'm proud of and love 5SOS. ++
