I’ve been writing about fandom for almost a decade now & the thing that always ticks me off is gatekeeping. Fandom is for EVERYONE. It’s not intended for some sort of hierarchy where we get to pick & choose who belongs. FFS, there r people whose only outlet is fandom.

I had someone tell me tonight that I didn’t belong in a fandom. A fandom I’ve supported and written about since day one. If people are saying that hurtful shit to me, imagine people who are new or maybe disagree with something or that they just don’t like for some reason.

Anyway, I love fandom. It’s saved me, changed the course of my life and career, introduced me to my closest friends. That’s why it should be for everyone to experience those joys.
