I’m so disturbed by the number of Christian leaders defending the sucker-punch by Eric Metaxas. Many of them are baby-boomer pastors and it’s actually all their fault I’m speaking out about this.

Let me explain what I mean.
I grew up under the leadership of baby-boomer pastors and leaders. They taught me, above all else, to take the words of Jesus very seriously. That includes his words from Matthew 5...
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:43-45
What Metaxas did was inexcusable and it was caught on video for everyone to see. If Christians refuse to hold each other accountable, who will? If we are unwilling to speak Spirit-filled truth to power in our own camp, how can expect anything to change?
The world is watching us. People are leaving the church left and right because so many Christian leaders have forsaken the Kingdom of God for positions of power in the kingdoms of this world.
I desperately want all people, no matter who they are are what they’ve done, to have a life-changing encounter with the love of Jesus. Making excuses for Metaxas’ abhorrent behavior is pushing people further and further away from Jesus. I refuse to abide it quietly.
Baby-boomer pastors and Christian leaders - y’all are the ones who taught me and many other young Christians to love Jesus and care deeply about Scripture.

Don’t be silent. Don’t make excuses. Stop caring so much about your personal kingdoms and stand up for the Kingdom of God.
