Cute but kind of sad thread of animals I had never heard of until today and are, unfortunately, all endangered.
The Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat

These guys are the largest wombats on Earth and also the largest herbivorous burrowing mammals. They face predation from other species though and there are only 115 of these left in the wild, all of whom are in Queensland Australia.
The Vaquita

They are found only in the Gulf of California, Mexico, and are classified as the most endangered marine animal in the world with only 10-15 left today. Their population has dropped by around %95 since 1997. Fun fact: their name means "little cow" in Spanish.
The Saola

These distant relatives of the cattle family are found throughout mountain ranges in Vietnam and Laos. They are hard to research because of their location but they are confirmed to be endangered.
The Purple Frog

This disgusting little thing was only formally discovered in 2003 and no exact population number has been released. It is known, however, that due to deforestation in India, it's habitat is shrinking and it is classified as endangered.
The Hispaniolan Solenodon

This dude is cute but it's actually one of the few venomous mammals. It's also believed this animal family has been around since the dinosaurs but it's currently only found in a small area of Haiti and is one of the rarest animals on Earth.
Ila Pika

This smol boy is among the last 1000 of it's kind, living in the mountain ranges of China. It's a relatively new discovery, found in 1983, but it's numbers have declined dramatically since then due to its habitat suffering from climate change.
Peruvian Black Spider Monkey

Spider monkeys are well known but you may not have heard of this subspecies. They are found mainly along the Amazon River but are constantly under threat of poaching and deforestation. Half of its population has been lost in the last 45 years.
Pangolin

I've actually seen this one before but I never knew its name, so I'm adding it here anyway. The pangolins are an ancient species that are relentlessly targeted by poachers all over the world for their scales which are used in traditional Chinese medicine.
Bearcat

The bearcat, despite its name, is not related to cats or bears and is actually part of the Viverridae family which is made up of small-medium mammals. It's found throughout Southeast Asia and Oceana but is a vulnerable species because of deforestation in its habitat.
Philippine eagle

Considered one of the rarest birds in the world, there are only around 500 left in the wild. It is found exclusively on four islands in the Philipines usually along the edges of forested areas. As with others in this thread, they are the victims of deforestation
Cuban snail

This large snail is found in the forested areas of Cuba. Their shells are valuable for use as jewelry and the species is now on the brink of extinction. The Cuban government has classified it as a protected species and has prohibited it's export expect for science
