The Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club app has a producer roundtable discussion with a lot of interesting info about the show:
- Planning for Zero-One started in during the summer of 2018 while Build was airing.
- Auditions began in April 2019, finishing around May.
- Producer Omori visited NII (National Institute of Informatics) and talked with about 10 professors about their feelings on AI.
- They also visited AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology), where they making robots and advancing 3D printers.
- That was where they researched about Multidimensional Printer Zat.
- They joked the campus was like Solbrain Base.
- It's where they were shown aibo, but didn't consider at the time about putting one in the show
- 1st May 2019 the first draft of episodes 1 & 2 were done
- They wanted to start filming at the beginning of June 2019, but it didn't until mid-June.
- They originally wanted anime section for episodes 5 & 6, but filming was in August and the episodes were to air September & October, they would want 6 months to produce it, but with barely 2 months to air, it was impossible.
- Episode 11's Shinya Owada (played by the actor Shinya Owada), wasn't originally planned, but after they cast him, they re-wrote the character so it matched up with the actor himself
- Producer Momose based the Ikebana (flower arranging) Humagear on his university friend and his mother who were specialists. They asked them for assistance and by chance the mother was already a fan of Zero-One
- He asked his lawyer friend to look over the dialogue for episodes 21 & 22
- For 26 & 27, they went to Fire and Disaster Management Agency for advice, who train firefighters.
- Omori said that while Rider was going to change for the Reiwa era, they didn't plan for any huge abrupt changes from previous shows.
- Akio Kaneda from episode 1 would ask to reappear again every time he bumped into the staff
- They didn't expect how much of an impact Fukkinhoukai Taro would have in episode 1. However it made them realize that picking AI as the theme for the show was a good choice
- Omori admits that some fans didn't like the "5 Job Competition" arc, but he loved it and viewing figures grew during that period. Zero-One was probably the only show that could pull off this kind of story
- Originally they had planned for Gai to take over Hiden Intelligence a lot sooner, with Gai sat in Aruto's office with Izu beside him around the New Year's holiday. Eventually they realized it was too quick as people wanted to see Aruto as CEO more.
- Though they found the "5 Job Competition" arc didn't really need to have any Riders appear and the action scenes didn't exactly mesh with the drama portions.
- Omori worries that Gai's evil intentions were actually a little too realistic and a character doing workplace harassment on a Sunday morning might have been a little too heavy
- In the show, Zero-One needed the "President" title to be able to transform and with Hiden Intelligence being stolen from him, they created HIDEN Manufacturing for him to run
- Gai getting beaten up a bunch later on was a reaction to backlash to the "5 Job Competition" arc.
- Just as they were reforming http://Metsuboujinrai.net  to come back for the big climax, the show had to go on pause...
- They had written up to episodes 38 & 39 when the emergency declaration was made and further writing was stopped. They didn't know when it would be lifted and how many episodes they would get to film.
- Because of Corona hold-up and whatnot, they ended up introducing Ark quicker than planned (in President Special 2)
- If Corona hadn't occurred, they would have had 14 episodes left, but the break cost them 4 episodes and they had already penned the following 4... which left them with 6 episodes to wrap everything up
- At one point, it was possible that the show would end of episode 41. By the time they finished episode 45, Saber's team had finished filming the first two episodes.
- Aside from Ark-One and ZAIA's new president being introduced, with 4 episodes left, they basically started from scratch. They did always want Zero-One Vs. Hirobi as the final fight (with Takaiwa in the suit), but weren't sure how to get there
- In a meeting around that time, someone came up with the idea that Aruto becomes Ark-One after losing Izu and going evil because Horobi killed her
