VICTORY OF THE LIGHT: A QANON PREDECESSOR

Victory of the Light is a conspiracy theorist (and/or LARPer) who hung out on 4chan and had a small but devoted following. Both his worldview and his claims about imminent events were almost identical to Q& #39;s, but months earlier.

Behold:
If you& #39;re an experienced Q watcher, your jaw just hit the goddamn floor* -- because Q has made identical or near-identical predictions for almost every item on that list.

* Or you already knew about VOTL, in which case: whoops, I over-hyped that quite a bit.
Before we start running down the list and comparing it to the Q mythos, though, I want to highlight some important differences between the two.

For starters, VOTL& #39;s conspiracy theory centered on aliens and Jews, and involved a healthy dose of praising Hitler:
As far as I know, Q has never made claims about aliens or stargates, and also has never overtly praised Hitler in any of the drops -- in other words, Q abandoned the most clearly fringey elements of VOTL, even as he, uh, "borrowed" many of VOTL& #39;s predictions.
And yes, it seems weird to claim that Q /backed away/ from fringey bullshit, when QAnon is /full of fringey, kooky bullshit/.

But kookiness exists on a spectrum, and "God was a Pleiadian and Hitler did nothing wrong" will scare away the normies 100% of the time.
By contrast, Q& #39;s claims about a cabal of baby-eating Satanist pedophiles (whose ranks happen to consist exclusively of outspoken Trump opponents) were apparently close /enough/ to some widely held popular beliefs to catch on. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷" title="Person shrugging" aria-label="Emoji: Person shrugging">
I wouldn& #39;t have /thought/ that was the case in & #39;17, but I would have been wrong!
Now! I need to take a break for RL. When I return, we& #39;ll move on to part 2: breaking down the similarities between VOTL& #39;s predictions and the QAnon myth.

P.S. Enjoy this assortment of posts from VOTL defenders, and remember: tweeting all day means it CAN& #39;T be a LARP!
UPDATE: To my embarrassment, I forgot to mention the other difference: VOTL accepted the validity of other conspiracy theories (in fact, he endorsed Q in 11/2017).

Q never /endorses/ other theories -- QAnon just /absorbs/ them.
Q& #39;s approach is the right one, IMO: if, as both Q and VOTL claimed, they were bringing *the one and only truth* to the masses, then it makes no sense to interact with /rival/ claimants as if they were equals.

The right play is to keep yourself at a lofty remove...
and steal all their best ideas, naturally. :D

So now, we& #39;re gonna look at how Q did exactly that.
PART 2: THE Q MYTH& #39;S PARALLELS TO VICTORY OF THE LIGHT

Recall the main points of the VOTL storyline.

The QAnon parallels are striking -- in fact, if you lop off the UFO-related items ("disclosure", first contact, and "ascension"), you& #39;re left with exact and near-exact matches.
For instance, let& #39;s take a look at Victory of the Light& #39;s claim that after the Event (in Q mythology, after the Storm), there& #39;ll be a "Release of Suppressed Technologies" -- as @travis_view documents, there are Q drops suggesting exactly the same thing: https://twitter.com/travis_view/status/1060246270214725632?s=20">https://twitter.com/travis_vi...
To make that more explicit: Q followers often believe hat after the Storm, we& #39;ll live in a utopian world.

@travis_view can drown you in a /sea/ of examples; here, take a look!

Keep that last one -- the "worldwide reset" -- in mind. It& #39;ll come up shortly.

First, though, let& #39;s circle back to the most obvious and striking parallel between VOTL and Q: "mass arrests of the Cabal."

My personal favorite drop about the mass arrests: https://twitter.com/rothschildmd/status/1081240572398981120?s=20">https://twitter.com/rothschil...
Other quality mass arrest content, also courtesy @rothschildmd, is available below. But really, /anyone/ who& #39;s seen how Q followers talk among themselves can tell you that QAnon is /centered on the Storm/, which is to say, the mass arrest of the Cabal. https://twitter.com/rothschildmd/status/1062769386262474752?s=20">https://twitter.com/rothschil...
In fact, just to really drive the point home, here& #39;s a thread with over 10,000 replies (and counting, I suppose) full of QAnon followers discussing the fate that *awaits* Trump& #39;s oppon-- I mean, "the Cabal" -- after the Storm: public execution. https://twitter.com/TalktoTig/status/1271063286776123392">https://twitter.com/TalktoTig...
Hm. I just had a great and/or terrible realization: I don& #39;t /need/ to go into this level of detail for the rest of the thread. I probably didn& #39;t need this level of detail at all! Come, join me as we sprint to the finish.

Summing up:
In QAnon mythology, the following events will unfold in close proximity. Compare to VOTL:

1) The 10 Days of Darkness (in which the Internet is down and critical services can& #39;t function)

2) The Storm (mass arrests of the Cabal, liberating the Earth from dark forces)
3) The Cabal& #39;s wealth will be seized and, depending on which QAnon believer you talk to, redistributed to "real Americans" or used to clear the national debt;

4) Trump will put a new, just order in place that shatters the banking system and looks out for the little guy.
5) President Trump will release cures for every disease.

I& #39;m leaving some items out (& #5 isn& #39;t universally believed, although, as we& #39;ve seen, Q believers do generally imagine that, after the Storm, we& #39;ll enter a utopian age -- we& #39;re just one violent purge away from happiness!).
Every single item on that checklist is congruent with VOTL.

Every. Single. One.

Since Q came second, it at least seems /plausible/ -- and, IMO, likely --that Q consciously borrowed some elements from the VOTL cosmology.
The least we can say is that it& #39;s striking to see these two sources making *nearly identical claims*, separated by only a few months.

But I don& #39;t think we need to stop at "it& #39;s striking." I think we should consider Q a descendant, or at least a relative, of Victory of the Light.
P.S. Oh no, I left out my favorite screenshot!
P.P.S. Whoops! One of these tweets refers to "my personal favorite drop about the arrests," then links to a tweet from @rothschildmd which features no drops. My bad; I was originally going to link to drop 2344, which is just... a perfect distillation of QAnon:
