Before @blaseball& #39;s 5th season kicks off tomorrow, I want to tell you about everyone that& #39;s helped make this cultural event possible. Meet @thegameband.
@joel_a_clark built the simulation that governs blaseball. He& #39;s responsible for so much of the game& #39;s unique tone – there would be no York Silk without his name generator. We can always count on Joel& #39;s love for systems design and community interaction to push the game forward.
Early on, @_sbell_ asked if we could have rogue umpires. We said yes so then he offered up even stranger ideas. We kept saying yes. He helped bring chaos and absurdity to blaseball – which are now synonymous with the splort. An amazingly talented writer and narrative designer.
When the audience grew VERY fast, our producer @legobutts saved the day. They quickly set guidelines for the community and recruited the incredible keepers. Felix is also helping us find ways to make this project sustainable – which means more exciting surprises and partnerships.
Speaking of the keepers, they& #39;re doing an amazing job moderating the discord. A huge shoutout to @TheVoidAndMore, @_sulcata, @ColinMcInerror, @FiveOutOfKevin, @nameoftheyear, @GliitchWiitch, @ohallows13, @_TreeTop_, @DylanIlvento, @Coby1447, and @NightSkyGames.
@hotskippy jumped onto blaseball when things started to get out of hand, and as usual he brought order to the chaos. Roldan& #39;s one of the most positive people I& #39;ve ever worked with and is always ready to handle any challenge. A better firefighter than anyone from Chicago.
@shampliu was the first actual web developer to work on blaseball, and the site would never have launched without him. He& #39;s responsible for so much of the initial web design too.
@eli_the_brave was the second web dev to help get this beta ready to release. He designed some of the most important pages, like the election, and has since made a lot of improvements to the site. If you& #39;re enjoying the new betting UI, that& #39;s all thanks to him.
@electric_claire aka the blaseball surgeon rearchitected the entire site during our two-week siesta. Yes, you read that right. Probably the closest thing to emergency surgery I& #39;ve ever seen in game development. She was a joy to work with and set blaseball up for the future.
@thefatalst improved our quality of life...and yours! She made tons of improvements to the site (like batch voting) and created the new bulletin board. She& #39;s working on some really exciting stuff.
@thegameband& #39;s animator @SkinnyFoxford came up with "Your Kicks Are My Kicks" – the heart of the Shoe Thieves. 3D artist Cory Davis helped a ton with testing. @nkkhrt collected feedback and helped with hiring. Philly& #39;s own @looseyliu kept us organized – and came up with the Pies.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you. There wasn& #39;t much joy in my timeline this year, but now it& #39;s filled with your artwork, movies, games, character bios, and Mike Townsend songs (who& #39;s a credit to the team). Can& #39;t even begin to tell you how much happiness you& #39;ve brought us.
We are all love blaseballhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="♥️" title="Herz" aria-label="Emoji: Herz">
