John Lennon’s early demo of Real Love - when it was titled Real Life.
A thread:
A thread:
“Why must we be alone? Well, it’s real life.. it’s real life.”
This was recorded somewhere in the mid-late seventies, and the verses before that talk about getting out of bed, seeing something bad in the sky, going back to bed because something didn’t feel right - and it feels like John wasn’t in a good place.
John Lennon’s whistle solo in the demo
“Was I just dreaming, or was It only yesterday?
I used to hold you in my arms
and now a baby, and another on the way..
lalalalala farm, hm.
Now, must we be alone?”
I used to hold you in my arms
and now a baby, and another on the way..
lalalalala farm, hm.
Now, must we be alone?”
That clip gets me every time. He just sounds like he’s laughing - or crying. One of the both, and the words are just very personal. I kind of want to give him a hug :(
“If it don’t feel right, don’t do it.
If it don’t look right, look right through it!
If it don’t feel right, don’t do it.”
“...Just call him on the phone...”
If it don’t look right, look right through it!
If it don’t feel right, don’t do it.”
“...Just call him on the phone...”
The demo ends there with that line about the call, and I don’t know why but it makes me feel something, what do you think it’s about? Let me know.
Real Life, Real Love.
