1. I was just thinking today that if I were a socialist, I'd view Trump very differently. I'd see Trump as merely the unmasked expression of what America has always been, providing the catalyst for the oppressed masses to realize that and cast down the entire system. https://twitter.com/SocialistMMA/status/1299294554382897153
2. Since I don't believe this, I view Trump with more horror - not as an aberration, necessarily, but as a departure from decent and desirable norms.
3. As a conservative, I view Trump with even greater horror - as a terrible corruption of the very ideals I hold, which can only discredit them in the eyes of the people he hurts.
4. Trump also eats up the ideological space that more legitimate and credible conservative ideas might occupy, and fills it with destructive demagoguery instead.
5. I've watched an entire generation of potential conservative leaders abase themselves, morally and intellectually, by following his lead.
6. If I were a radical left-winger, I'd welcome this. Even if I were a liberal, I'd view it with concern and trepidation. Since I'm a conservative, I view it with horror.
