As a #HKer ,I firmly believe that to counter a tyranny’s propaganda machine, we must be able to yell the truth from the rooftop so the world can hear us loud and clear

What happened in a metro station of Hong Kong on that fateful night 31/8/2019?

TW: Distressing media

I still vividly recall the rage and sadness I felt as I watched the leaked/live clips that night

It is more than just the savage beating we saw as a people, it is the consequent denial of medical treatment and the fresh memory of #721YuenLongAttack just mere 5 weeks ago.

FA were treated like criminals and this video of an anon FA begging the police to let him through to help the wounded is heartbreaking

Pretty sure this falls short of the Geneva Convention if there were an APPG-HK inquiry

Fear, anger and sense of helplessness were rift in the city that night. #HongKongers are left in the dark as reporters and medical personnel alike struggle to reach the casualties for hours.

The government and HK Police propaganda machine were quick to churn out laughable excuses for what happened there.
As #HongKongers could not find out what happened in the station due to media blackout and Metro company MTR refused to release CCTV footages, rumours grew quick

After claims that the number of casualties reported by ambulance crew on site and by hospitals did not match up, combined with the distrust in the government and their subsequent behaviour over #831PrinceEdwardAttack , many believed that our people have died that day

People turned out en masse to pay tribute to casualties of #831PrinceEdwardAttack and others who gave their blood/lives during our #FightForFreedom

There was a eerie sense of camaraderie, one forged with blood, tears and toil.
It was, to me, tragically beautiful

It would have been a simple matter of disclosing the CCTV and releasing their records for scrutiny if the police were accountable or the gov wanted to regain trust and behave transparently - but no.

Police showed up to peaceful memorial events - and did this to the shrine

Of course all this is on top of their usual #PoliceBrutality , CS spray, batons, harassment etc
All to intimidate people and try to make #HongKongers submit to fear and tyranny
Did not work - they learned nothing after the 2 mil march

One year on, the HK police is still very twitchy about people commemorating #831PrinceEdwardAttack

Snowflakes with license to abuse power against #HongKongers cannot deal with a few slogans

Asia's Finest Snowflakes indeed

It is hard for me to describe how much pride I have in those who fought, and those who are still by our side

Liberate Hong Kong
Revolution of our times

Freedom and liberty belong to this land
May glory be to #HongKong
