Who are the Uyghurs?
An ethnic group in Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region (East Turkestan), one of China's 55 officially recognized ethnic minorities. Currently, millions are in concentration camps dubbed as "Re-education Camps" and internment camps. (2/?)

Many are enslaved in slave labor for factories affiliated with all kinds of multinational corporations and most are imprisoned for crimes they didn't commit or for ridiculous reasons (3/?)

What is happening in these camps?
Detainees are targeted for affiliation with religious and cultural minorities, held without indictment or fair trial, and subject to conditions clearly designed to reinforce the state’s political control. (4/?)

For hours, detainees must stand, chained, and recite glory to the CCP and Han Chinese. You must learn Mandarin fluently. If you do not comply or if you make mistakes, you can be held in solitary confinement and or tortured. (5/?)

Many cases of Uyghurs have been reported of horrific graphic torture & gang rapes to the "pretty" ones in front of other detainees. If you flinch, you can be raped too. All-day, they must recite propoganda--a form of brainwashing. (6/?)

DNA collection, organ harvesting & human experimentation are routinely done. There are many cases of sterilization where prisoners were injected w/ mysterious substances. (6/?)

Uyghurs are forced to strip in front of each other, especially women in front of guards and men--it's humiliating & traumatic especially with the Islamic modesty beliefs held by many or women who wore veils (7/?)

Outside the camps, there are tests of the social credit system in China's frontier regions (Inner Asia) where people are graded on a 100 point scale. If you're of Uighur descent, you lose 10 points. This affects the ability to have a job, loans, house, car, education, etc; (8/?)

If you are Uyghur and your family is in China, you are blackmailed by the government. Spies are sent to watch your family. Uyghur exiles confirmed they were coerced to gather details about Uyghur activities abroad to sow discord within exile communities in the West (9/?0

Spies are sent to intimidate people from speaking out especially former detainees. (10/?)

There are forced labor camps. Other factories produce much of the masks that people are wearing in this pandemic. This genocide is propagated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to assimilate Uyghurs into a Han identity (12/?)

This is through the concentration camps and criminalizing Muslim culture where practices of Islam are seen as allegiance to something external to China and thus a threat. Currently, 23 million Muslims in China (13/?)

The youngest Uyghur children are ripped away from their parents and sent to orphanages to be raised/adopted as Han and to completely erase any Uyghur or Muslim ties. And thus, they can never know about their Han identity. Some are told their parents are dead (14/?)

A woman I spoke to, told me her friend's children were seen on Tik Tok singing in a Chinese orphanage (the app you all rave about but censored any discussion of this genocide). This Uyghur woman has not seen her children since she was first detained but saw them on the app (15/?)

Kazakh Muslims are disappearing too. Common crimes are viewing foreign websites, calls from relatives abroad, praying, or growing beards. China denied the reeducation camps but satellite images refute this. Images show the demolition of mosques & Uyghur architecture too (16/?)

There are about 10 million Uyghurs in Xingjiang. It's now a totalitarian police state with advanced surveillance systems. 20% of criminal arrests in China happen in Xinjiang despite it being only 1.5 % of the Chinese population (17/?)

To the CCP and to many Chinese, the Uyghurs are denying civilization to middle-class Han. And thus, the Han will lead the way of the "backward populations", teaching them modernization. There's an incredible VICE video with interviews in China: ( (18/?)

What is happening in the Uyghur communities though?

The CCP is changing cultural norms. There are public fashion shows in Uyghur communities. Young women sit patiently as "Uyghur Beautifcians" dab face whitening cream, paint red lips and thin eyebrows (19/?)

Uyghur women are organized by age and dressed in blue jeans, mini skirts, etc before being paraded on stage in local fashion shows. Henna and ethnic attire are not allowed. (20/?)

This was funded by the state called the Three News Campaign in 2017--the CCP’s efforts to beautify and change Uyghur women by "disciplining them". (21/?)

In 2011, there was Project Beauty, a five year 8 million dollar multimedia initiative to encourage piously and modestly dressed Uyghur women to look towards modern culture by removing face veils and hijabs. They must "Let their hair down" and show their “pretty faces.”

In 2015, they outlawed hijabs and long beards.
The Three News campaign advocated a new lifestyle, new order, and prohibition against wearing "strange clothing." (23/23)
