So, here's my take on Season 1 of #TheOwlHouse

Back in 2018, when it was greenlit alongside Amphibia, I was really excited about this show. Everything from its premise to art style looked promising, and Dana's experience with GF and Ducktales had me enthusiastic...
And of course, I was right to be excited, cause from episode 1, this show really established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the next era of cartoons.

From the start it took a really interesting spin on your standard coming of age and kid visiting a new world story...
I think from the get go, the establishment of characters helped it out. Luz, Eda and King all showed us what we could expect from them, and that (for the most part) carried on throughout the season. But what really amazed me about TOH was its rapid pace in storytelling...
Maybe it's just based on the ones I've seen, but I've never seen a show power through a big chunk of its story as fast as this one. I mean, I had suspected that Eda's curser wouldn't be revealed till at least season 2 but that became the big reveal of this season, & the start...
of whatever the emperor is up to. TOH is not waiting when it comes to telling its story. You miss one, you're out of the loop! However, alongside the story being told at the rate it is, what amazed me about was its rapid character development. Most notably with one character...
Of course...I'm talking about Amity!

Seriously? Who was the Amity we saw in those first episodes...because that ain't her now!

Amity went from imo, the worst character on TOH, to one of the most lovable ones!

THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT!
Amity could have remained your stereotypical bully character and never developed, or she would have, but not by much! Instead, she had a whole personality change!

The best comparison I could make is with probably Pacifica. But then, even with her, she never got the same...
level of development as amity has gotten in literally the first season! In some ways, I'd argue that Amity is what Pacifica's arc could have become had we gotten more attention put on it. Of course, GF and TOH have different priorities character wise, so at most, I'm okay...
And of course, we cannot forget about the star of the show...Grom! Episode wise, as someone who isn't a fan of prom themed episodes, it was a winner. But regardless of that, the main star was of course, LUMITY!
Ship wise, prior to Grom, it really was just another fandom ship, but with this/all the hints prior, it basically is confirmed!

With Luz confirmed bi, Amity confirmed in love with her, and the dance that made headlines around the world, it's safe to say TOH has made history...
We've come a long way from the days of Gravity Falls not being allowed to have a lesbian background character. And while of course, there's still a long way to go, The Owl House is proof that we are on the right track...
