Do people genuinely not understand why Leeds are better equipped to spend than we are post-COVID?

This really shouldn’t have to be something that has to be explained, but I guess it has to: https://twitter.com/lfcokx/status/1300040060352499712
Leeds have just been promoted to the Premier League, opening their doors to all of the mass influx of revenue that comes with it

Leeds expenses are currently set to be accommodated by Championship level revenue, so even after COVID, they are looking to get more money than before
Liverpool are the opposite, they’re already in the PL, they’re already in the UCL, their expenses are set to be accommodated by that corresponding revenue, which has now decreased

Which decreases our ability to spend as much. Nike deal has allowed us to still spend some.
Liverpool can only be improved by very select few players now due to where they are at, those players are often expensive.

Leeds can be improved by most 1st division level players, they can be less picky about who they sign, so they move quicker in the market
Liverpool have to be smarter, which takes time, they have to identify who can realistically improve them, and who they can realistically afford, there’s not a lot of overlap there

Thiago is one and from the sound of it, he will be a Liverpool player, so don’t bring him up
In terms of a CB or attacker, they need someone good enough to fill a hole left my Salah/Mane or Matip/Gomez. And they have to find it cheap.

That is hard, thus Klopp’s comment about “we have to wait and see what we can do”.
Leeds, don’t have this issue, and that’s not a good thing.

They’re spending like crazy because they were a championship team moving up the the Prem. And they need the reinforcements.

We see this every year, how do people still not understand that is how it works?
If you were a millionaire that had expenses that reflected your millionaire status (expensive house, cars, etc.) and you suddenly lost a chunk of your income for the next year, you will be more careful with what you spend

Because you already have your fancy cars and house.
If you were someone in the middle class who got a huge bonus or raise, or won the lottery, you’re going to spend more

Because you’ve now come in to money you didn’t have before.
