I wouldn't normally put this on my main but I feel like it needs to be said. The taking down of the John A MacDonald statue, I 100% can get behind and here's why:
Just as Canada can become a great country we need to face it and admit that the genocide of the indigenous ppl who lived here is a bloody stain on our foundation that history has shoved under the rug for generations.
We have a long way to go as we still face horrible racism against indigenous ppl and POC in this country.

But taking down the statue of our first prime minister who committed mass murder, assimilation, and hate crimes on indigenous ppl is a great thing to show that we-
as a country do NOT stand by those ideals anymore and we can move forward to be better people... a better country
