Many people realizing they are Disabled because they wear glasses.

And even I missed it and guess what? It's true

Twitter is a school we all should have
When you complain about the price of glasses you are complaining about how expensive Disability is.

Then you guys say we are whiners 💀
Rally up the apologies ❣️
Realizing how us asking due accessibility is actually not being unreasonable.

You can't do anything without your glasses and yet when we ask for working lifts and a living wage we are told we are asking for too much
Imagine being rejected cause your glasses are lost / broken / stolen.

You get headaches when you can't wear your glasses. You depend on them so much you have more than one pair if you can afford it.

Then think about how every *visibly Disabled person you have met and mistreated
This is not a gotcha. Realizing how much we have also overlooked as the ♿ because of internalized ableism.

I'm stunned at the realization.
"sorry we can't hire you, you can't see 2020" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Corny yet funny
Back in the day when I had a business we hired a young guy who couldn't see. But he didnt tell us he can't see because he thought we wouldn't hire him.

True story.

Dude kept messing orders up and one day I watched him read a slip and this man can't see.
We called a meeting and I asked him and he admitted that he broke his glasses and couldn't afford to buy a new pair.

We got him glasses and the last time I heard he was at UCT.

This is a Disability
A pair of glasses could have kept him from a job. And school.

Glasses.
Think of all the names people called you for being Disabled.

Think of all the names you have called US
The difference between your glasses and the beggars on street corners are that you wear glasses so you caught a break.

The more I think about it
All thd Disability Tax 🤭

Maaannnn I have every right to be pissed until the end of time
This chat reminds me of the medic swing @Imani_Barbarin tweeted about the other day.

And it's moved over to be a sex toy for the able bodied. Funny irony? The able bodied find us repulsive

The Disabled have every right not to trust anybody
Ableism got a young man killed last week. And instead of talking about how we need to make the world more accessible so the police don't pull triggers on children

People chose to bicker about whether he was Coloured or Black.

And these are "comrades"
So if we take that Ableism that was at play while everybody was playing politics.

It's as simple as the police shot a young man because he went outside without his glasses

This is why this is building up a rage in me
Inspiration porn. When you ask us why we hate inspiration porn.

Why would you be inspired by somebody wearing glasses?

See why we have been saying no?

Once the collective guilt and shock passes, there is a lot of work the Ableds have
If you are thinking of how you can use your glasses now to take up the parking space for Wheelchair users...

We are not friends and if you do that it means you think this is a joke and I'd like to point out that by messing up the system, ♿ our lives will get harder.

Dont
I'm RTing responses from Glass wearers saying they are getting Disability stickers to use parking usually reserved for us.

That one parking bay in the mall. You are wearing glasses, you don't need the extra space and you are taking it away because we taught you better
This is not the thanks we want.

And now we are back to not trusting the able bodied.

Let's go back to not considering your poor vision a Disability.

This is a joke to the ableds.
Learnt something? It's a pleasure.

I actually *do* need new glasses. And yes I'm Disabled
Able bodied people. I need you to gather your fellows.

I don't have the patience, the humour, the glasses or the money to find whatever you think is funny about people not being able to see where they are going.

And yes it's funny that the Disabled community is ill treated
But yes. Very funny. Go park in the Disabled spot.

Me and my chair will make do with whatever you feel is Worth your time and your respect.
I'm glad you can find humour in your ableism and you don't think how harmful you are to the Disabled you dislike so much.

Let's all laugh. Ableism is fucking hilarious right?
People telling me their parents used to take their glasses as punishment.

I know I've read about this before 🤔.

An assistance device being taken from you as punishment, sounds like a Disability
The funny thing. I'm realizing how if this was to be used as a loophole by employers.... This could really really harm the Disabled community and I've seen your reactions to the thread and it's too late to delete 💔💔💔

Your ableism has made me realize my mistake in this 💔
Yeah this was a big mistake on my part.
