I unfortunately can't remember which tweet it's from, but today i used the therapist advice: using the power of "I get to" instead of "I have to".

I get to do my laundry while listening to music. ➡️ that clean laundry I've had sitting for weeks finally got done. ✨
I can't believe I was today years old when i realized i can use music as a way to motivate myself during chores??? wtf. I even used that momentum to open my Japanese "PJs" and pick out an outfit to wear for tomorrow.
im gonna try this method some more to see if it helps me.

I get to start college tomorrow.
I get to have my own study space so that i can concentrate better.
I get to maybe have pancakes for breakfast tomorrow.
I get to start using the new planner my dad got me.
I get to learn.
I get to use my One Piece Alabasta arc Straw Hats vs. Baroque Works binder that I've never opened until today.
I was actually able to resist my impulse to check discord before doing my daily writing by thinking "I get to check discord if I do my daily writing." 🤯 this is huge for me. ok here's another:

I get to enjoy Yakuza Kenzan streaming w/ friends if I get my work done on time.
The biggest challenge is not using my phone(s). I get to figure out how to give myself proportionately acceptable rewards for authentic work ethic AND still be remembering to eat & stay hydrated. no one else can do it for me or hold me accountable to it but my own honor system.
