Every now and then, I get really fired up about one of Mitch McConnell's commercials. So, today, I would like to review some facts about the Senator from my state.
Mitch McConnell was first elected to the United States Senate in 1985. I was four years old, and Murder She Wrote was a hit.

He is running for his 1,2,3,4,5,6,SEVENTH term in the United States Senate.
In his thirty-six years as a senator, he has been the primary sponsor of 25 bills that have been enacted according to GovTrack. He has been paid more than $5 million US dollars in salary according to the US Senate salary schedule and my calculator.
He considers his most consequential decision blocking the appointment of Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. He promised Don McGahn that he would move judicial nominees like they were on a conveyor belt.
You know what McConnell does really well? He shows up. In 36 years, he has missed only 84 of over 11k votes.

What else? Fundraising. According to Open Secrets, he has raised over $36 million this cycle.

You know what he does poorly? Lead the US Senate. Represent Kentucky.
Everyone in professional politics says that defeating McConnell is virtually impossible. In order for it to happen, people need to show up with the tenacity that he does. Thirty-six years, over $5 million, a Supreme Court seat, and the dignity of the Senate are more than enough.
