At 1 p.m. PST, Mayor @tedwheeler & Portland Police Chief @ChiefCLovell are holding a press conference in response to the deadly violence last night against a participant of the pro-Trump caravan rally. You can view it live here:

. @tedwheeler is ranting against the President in the press conference in response to the shooting homicide. “For four years we’ve had to live with you and your racist attacks on black people,” he says.

. @DAMikeSchmidt calls for the violence to end in a statement. His office has committed to not prosecute a long list of crimes.

. @tedwheeler says his plan for ending the street riots is “fundamental reform” to criminal justice & policing per the demands of the “community.” He ended a program within police that addressed gun violence. There has been a large spike in shootings since.

. @tedwheeler said he is shocked and appalled by Trump’s response to the Portland homicide. “Support us or stay the hell out of the way!” he says. Wheeler says Trump encouraged the violence.

. @tedwheeler is asked if he will resign. His response: “No!”

. @ChiefCLovell says Portland Police simply doesn’t have the resources to police the groups that are spread across downtown. Someone in the room asks why police didn’t slash the tires of the caravan.

A left-wing reporter asks @DAMikeSchmidt if he will prosecute any @PortlandPolice for their actions at the antifa riots. He didn’t say yes or no. He encouraged people to make reports of misconduct.
