first of all: a little background on the song. this song was written after billie had a nightmare where she committed suicide by jumping off the golden bridge. after her suicide, none of her friends cared. but when she woke up, finneas was there for her.

the background story behind the music video: the ocean is billie's biggest fear. and with the music video she shows that with finneas, she can overcome her biggest fear. she feels safe with finneas. and thats how the music video is connected to the song itself-
-the music video isnt just "billie crashing into the ocean. its way more than that. it has a lot of emotional meaning behind it.
now to the video itself: it starts off with this message, kinda explaining what its about
then when the video part begins, we can see the lights of the buildings in the background syncing with the beat.
at this part, we can see the reflection of the lights appearing with the beat, along with the lights on the road and her blinking.
also in the part where she says "thought i could fly, so i stepped of the golden" we can see the golden bridge appearing in the distance.
we can also see her driving through the set where she shot the music video of one of her first hits, bellyache
and at the end, as they both sink into the ocean, you can see billie and finneas holding each others' hands and smiling at each other, meaning that as long as they are together, no one can do anything to them as the lyric "as long as im here, no one can hurt you" goes.
