Taking money out of long journeys to work in cities and putting it into local high streets and businesses is rewilding for the economy.

This results in job creation and innovation, so more decent work for everyone.

We all benefit.

Make better communities, not better commutes.
But what about all that empty office space in London?

Turn it into schools, universities, housing. Put city farms on the roof tops.

Cap the rents. Embrace the diverse communities.

Make cities vibrant cultural centres where no one is left behind.

Cities should be art.
What changes and what doesn’t is down to all of us.

We have ideas, we combine them, we find consensus, and we make change.

I can’t fix the world with tweets, but I can contribute to that positive change.

A small part in a machine we make together.
My part today was writing this thread and the petition at the end of it, to stop the treasury taxing us for keeping the economy afloat and trying to do better for ourselves.

And as far as I can see, it’s started something.
