Vidal: “It was very painful for things to happen like they did and not reach the final. Before the match, I had a lot of faith that in what could happen; but ultimately, even when you try to cover things up, the team was not doing well at the end of the season.”

Vidal: “Barça did things that don’t match that of a top level team. You realize it when you face an organized team with a winning mentality, with players who prepare physically & have a solid playing style. Being mentally weak & low energy takes its toll. That happened to us.”
Vidal: “This is clearly not only about the players, and much bigger than things not being done right. The club needs to improve and do it in the best way. But it’s not easy, it’s not about coming in and pushing out the biggest players and [expecting] everything will change.”
Vidal: “First, Barcelona needs to change their way of thinking. Football has evolved, the DNA is being left behind, and other teams are improving in other aspects. Football these days is more physical, more about pace and power, and technique falls into the background.”
Vidal: “Barcelona have to change a lot of things. A team, who I think is the best in the world, cannot have 13 professional players and for the rest of them to be youth players.
Vidal: “Not because they (youth players) don’t deserve to be there, but in this team, they need to compete for who is better and who should play.”
Vidal: “Every team has 23 players to fight for their spot, grow, and get better every day; but when they don’t get better, when you think that you can win everything with your DNA, you’re very mistaken.”
Vidal: “There’s very good players [in the team], and we have Messi who’s number one and an extraterrestrial, but he needs help. He needs players who improve and give better results.”
Vidal: “There’s no one like Arturo Vidal. The numbers in the last 13 years show that every club I went to, I changed for the better. But I’m at the orders of what the club decides and I’ll do the best I can, here or at another club. I spoke with Koeman & we’ll see what happens.”
Vidal: “He (Pirlo) was an incredible player, so imagine him as a coach. If he or Juventus called me, I’d be happy, but you have to be calm. If it happens, it happens. I have lots of love for Juventus and for Andrea.”
Vidal: “That’s complicated. I’ve never understood labeling players with the word ‘transferable.’ It’s very ugly. If a player wants to leave or you want to sell him, find a team for him, but don’t say it. That’s like going behind the player’s back.”
Vidal: “Exchanging a player for a player is crazy. Everyone deserves respect.”
