I’m going to say something not liked but here goes:

More Black activists and Black pundits need to draw attention to the fact that White people are co-opting the movement and causing ALOT of damage and Black people and BLM are being blamed for it.

Enough is Enough.

I’ve seen a couple of interviews now that when asked - it’s pivoted time the reason for the protests and racial justice. Yes. All of that. But also many of the people I see throwing Molotov cocktails and defacing property or getting in people’s faces- ain’t Black...

There was a deliberate reason why there was required training before you could hope on a bus join Freedom Summer or sit at a lunch counter during that era...especially if you were White...

It’s because King, Lewis, Williams, etc KNEW no matter the provocation- ANY VIOLENCE or PROPERTY DESTRUCTION would be linked to the movement and that would be that. AGAIN- it wasn’t fair but it was what it was...

And I’m at the point where I’m sick and fucking tired of being lectured daily about things escalating when all I see are people latching on to a LEGIT moment and movement so they can live out their “smells like teen spirit” angst.

I don’t have the answers as to how to do this- not sure if we need people to hold signs that read “this ain’t us” (I would do that) when this happens...but I do know it’s a sad thing to see something WE started gentrified & doing nothing but help our demise /fin
