I have been thinking a lot about social justice, race, and racism in the church. It’s been weighing heavy on my heart recently, especially after ready #ColorofCompromise by @JemarTisby. 1/3
Martin Luther King Jr. said that church is the most segregated hour in America. I read a quote recently from a black pastor saying that most multiethnic churches have white pastors. He said he believes it’s hard for many whites to view a black pastor as their authority. 2/3
Big Idea: what if a church had two co-teaching pastors that lead the church vs one. Maybe one black and one white, teaching equally as a team? Would this work? You have co-directors on films, why not co-pastors in churches? @JemarTisby @KyleJamesHoward what do y’all think? 3/3
Here’s the article I was reading where Pastor Moore @PreachMo talked about multicultural congregations: https://www.npr.org/2020/07/17/891600067/multiracial-congregations-may-not-bridge-racial-divide">https://www.npr.org/2020/07/1...
I found your experience very interesting @PreachMo, what would your thoughts regarding my idea above in this thread? Is this something that has been tried and tested?
