Was chatting with a friend about how some of the things that help us succeed in school actually end up holding us back in life. Here is a thread
1) In school we are taught to wait for instructions and then follow them

In life no one spoon feeds you a user manual. You need to figure things out on your own & more importantly explore the edges & go outside the box
2) In school you are taught to conform & fit in

In life the most successful people are those break away from the pack and create their own path
3) In school making mistakes holds you back. The word fail has a negative connotation

In life if you are not failing you are not learning
4) In school you are rewarded for knowing the right answer

In life you are rewarded for asking the right question
5) In school you are taught that knowledge flows only one way - you can only learn from a teacher

In life the flow of knowledge is always two way
6) In school you are taught that growth happens only vertically - you go from a junior class to a senior class

In life growth can also happen horizontally - you don't have to only climb a ladder
What have been your observations? Anything that can be added to this list?
