It’s OK to adapt your Sabbath practice for the time of life you’re in.
Ask “what kind of rest does my soul & body need right now,” not “what is the Platonic Form Of Sabbath that I should be doing.”
No “shoulds” for rest. Only your body knows what you need right here, right now.

I’ve had Very Holy Monday Sabbaths w lots of walks & prayers.
And one winter, I had “Dragon Age Mondays.” A friend & I played video games all day bc I was struggling w mental health.
And one summer, I had “Big Magic Mondays.” My writing friend & I met & wrote & were creative.

We aren’t the same person all the time: our needs change, and rest looks different. Meeting a friend to write & talk about writing & be bubbly & joyful & creative was the BEST SABBATH for that season of life. It was rest. Might not be rest in another season. Listen to your body.
Do I think playing video games for 15 hours every Monday is always the healthiest Sabbath? NOOOOooooOooooOooope. But my soul hurt and I needed a place to be safe and shut down and be with people but not have to Be With People. It was the rest I needed right then.
So now I turn off my phone sundown to sundown Sun-Mon, bc my soul needs to not stare at a screen so much & I need rest from doom scrolling that’ll only get worse til Nov/Jan.
Lots of ways to rest. Don’t get so stuck on “doing it perfectly” that you don’t try some on for size.
