Russell Mackay, of Beachburg, is passing through West Carleton this weekend in his mission to raise money for @CHEO as part of his Papa Walks 4 Kids initiative. Yesterday he went through Kinburn and today he'll pass Marathon and hopefully reach Carp.
Initially his goal was to raise $25,000 but he has far surpassed that, generating more than $47,000 in donations. Today, the Almonte Lions Club stopped by with a $50 cheque. There are just 10 members in that club but they said they wanted to contribute.

. @CrystalMackay32 says her father's determination has inspired so many people. Mackay is 82, legally blind and has diabetes, but is walking 12-14 kms a day, rain or shine. He plans to reach @CHEO Sept. 3, capping off his 10-day 129-kilometre trek.
