Keys to offensive rebounding/defensive transition 1) Def transition is eliminating the gray area. You are either a crasher or a get-back guy. Too many just stand + watch. 2) Personnel based! Don’t take aggression away from guys who go get the ball.
3). Can’t play transition defense in transition. Get-back guys have to be in position early, talk, + make good decisions. 4). Teams simply don’t box-out. There are easy baskets on the offensive glass... and you can’t be great offensively w/o getting easy baskets.
5). Who really wants to run.. and when they do, it’s fairly predictable. You can game-plan for what they do in transition. And punishing them on the off glass will slow down their transition. 6) Off board 3’s (“daggers”) are back-breakers + off boards = FT’s.
7) Do your job! Have a system + hold them accountable. Get back guys protect crashers... and crashers are free to create bedlam on off glass. If they don’t do their job, we get to play more guys!
