For a “fill in the blank exam” at MCCC in 2011 I probably memorized elements of combat power as WfF + Leadership and Information and never really processed it. @102ndblackhawk6 brought it up during a zoom LPD a few months back and it was back in the front of my mind. 1/
I’ve seen a few things - I witnessed a unit during a Division CTE hemorrhage combat power during RSOI. The CDR declared their unit combat ineffective on TD2 and sat in an open field next to a growing vehicle graveyard for the entirety of the 10 days of FOF. 2/
Sustainment issues? Many. Planning and synchronization WfF challenges? Tons. Leadership? absent. The unit did what the commander allowed it to do - which was stop. 3/
I’ve watched this start to play out again and expected something similar. I saw a commander fight back, drive operations, and at times through sheer force of will and application of leadership make his unit stand. 4/
I watched it realizing the difference in combat power between the two units was simply leadership. That’s it. They dug in their heals and fought back when others might have gave up. Remember, the energy comes from you. 5/5
