It’s funny seeing fans get upset about what analysts say on debate shows. You realize they are there to troll and make strong/controversial takes, right? Debate shows would be tepid if everyone just did what Magic Johnson does on twitter. 🤣
You reposting an outrageous and unlikely take/prediction from sports debate show as a gotcha is not a gotcha. If you hate those shows, hosts and formats, don’t give them any earned media. Any attention, any sharing of content is a WIN for them. Don’t feed trolls
Not coming off TV because format is lucrative. Age of the troll and people like engaging with that content. Even if they are angry when they do so. The format is not going away until people stop watching, stop commenting about and stop sharing the content. https://twitter.com/andywhathappnd/status/1300097678391619585?s=21 https://twitter.com/andywhathappnd/status/1300097678391619585
No, I’m calling out people for saying they hate these shows and wish the format wasn’t around, but are engaging with the content. Any engagement is a win that helps the format thrive. You don’t feed trolls https://twitter.com/burnstweeted/status/1300098669417500674?s=21 https://twitter.com/burnstweeted/status/1300098669417500674
LOL. None of these hosts and analysts care what YOU think about them. They are doing the Scroog McDuck money dive after they wrap their shows each morning. Y’all hold on to this “journalist” thing like that’s the top of the priority stack for these guys. https://twitter.com/trillilenko/status/1300098247025860609?s=21 https://twitter.com/trillilenko/status/1300098247025860609
I’m actually saying I don’t think it’s cool. I don’t like it, so I don’t engage. You engage in any way, that’s a win for them. Engagement includes posting their content w/ an angry response. That’s the entire point of the format. Earned media and eyeballs https://twitter.com/trillilenko/status/1300100655890067456?s=21 https://twitter.com/trillilenko/status/1300100655890067456
I get the frustration too. But it’s obvious what the game is at this point. Don’t engage. We’re in the long tail of sports media content right now. There’s TONS of good content to engage with. Don’t engage with things you don’t like. https://twitter.com/bennyaziz/status/1300102689708146688?s=21 https://twitter.com/bennyaziz/status/1300102689708146688
And look, I tell our guys the same thing. But I understand it being difficult to hold back when it feels someone is coming at you personally on platform with millions of people tapped in. They want players to get pissed and react because it creates weeks of controversy/troll fuel
One last thing: If you actually do like and enjoy that type of content/format, that’s okay too! Tap in and watch it and engage. This thread is for people that say they hate the format and hot takes, but then continue to engage in ways that ensures the content stays on the air.
