Some actors are well-trained.
They are trained to remember words and deliver them with emotion.
The actor convincingly creates a false emotional setting when in reality, the actor is just delivering scripted words.
You resist rational thinking.
It's called Suspension of Disbelief
Why am I saying this? A cop needs special skills to interrogate an actor. If the actor being questioned is even half as good then the interrogator will submit to her. He or she will be convinced that the actor is speaking the truth when in reality the actor is delivering a script
Remember the scene in Basic Instinct where Sharon Stone created a false setting by smoking, taking off her coat, uncrossing her legs and then mouthing sexually charged words while being interrogated by a group of seasoned cops?
The cops (all male) were completely disarmed by her.
That's why it's very difficult to interrogate an actor. Most Bollywood actors practice this craft well.
To beat a good police interrogation, all that an actor needs to do is to train her mind into acting. Even seasoned cops will be fooled by it.
You need special skills to succeed
Remember, it's an actor's job to mask emotions. Most of the well-known comedians in this world are clinically depressed. From Charlie Chaplin to Robin Williams, they have made us laugh everyday when they were crying and screaming inside.
It's not easy to get into an actor's mind.
Can an actor hold on to an emotion for several hours and remember all the scripted lines?
Yes, you bet! Ask any theatre actor.
They hold on to a character for hours on end and remember the scripted lines when they are on stage in front of thousands.
That is no big deal.
Imagine a situation where a good actor has a large support team of seasoned director, senior actors, retired cop etc to train her before a tough police interrogation.
They make the actor memorise a perfect script and train her to give a performance.
What do you think will happen?
The suspect will play around with the interrogating cops and kick them around like a soccer ball.
The worst part: The interrogators won't even know that they are being kicked around.
The actor will successfully change the course of investigation at the interrogation stage itself.
What about a lie-detector test? Among all types of people, an actor will find it easiest to beat it. The polygraph has been beaten successfully by many criminals in the past. Today, there are medicines that help you stabilise your vitals which a polygraph cannot detect.
What's the solution?
Custodial interrogation.
An actor's mind is usually fragile. It can mask emotion for a few hours but it won't be able to withstand an onslaught for days on end.
When that barrier breaks, words will flow out along with facts.
