BIG THREAD. Brace yourself coz you are gonna learn a lot. Let's go.
You have seen words like runners, making deep runs, off the ball runs, overloads to create etc. These terms are complex for someone who isn't into the analysis. But what do they mean?
You have seen words like runners, making deep runs, off the ball runs, overloads to create etc. These terms are complex for someone who isn't into the analysis. But what do they mean?
If I write it down, maybe you will read it but there might be a chance that you will forget about it sooner or later. After all, it's our brain who has loads of work to do. So after viewing some videos and interpreting it, I thought why not show my buddies what exactly it is.
So for the above 'COMPLEX TERMS' let's find suitable situations or an institution. The first thing that comes to my mind is Barcelona. The team who need a person to complete those complex terms.
In the above/below images, what do you see in common? Don't worry, we have loads of time. Just observe very clearly. There might be something which is very similar in both the images. Even if it's a wrong answer, do not worry. Just keep that in mind and move on.
Okay, times up
. In both the above images, look very far away. Almost near the touchline. Can you spot someone just ahead of that MasterCard banner? That player is Pedro. Throughout the whole game, Pedro was just very wide from his team and was in an alert position.

Why he did this? Simple, in both the images you can see a United player with him. That's Fabio who was deployed as RB. Pedro basically took Fabio with him to create horizontal spacing. This space created an advantage for Barcelona.
This is called "overloading to create space". The idea here is to overload one specific area of the pitch, invite the press, best them and attack the space they left initially. Defending these are very hard. Before you know, the opposition has already done the damage.
But how are these overloads possible? Which tools do you need? Simple, it's the width. To accommodate or space creation, width is compulsory. How do you produce such width? Players who know which zones to occupy and tail defenders with them without the ball can make such wideness
Confusing?I do have another images to explain the same.A team who last season(2018/19) shocked the world with their Cruyff based football&in the meantime defeated the heavyweights like Madrid and Juve in knockouts of Ucl.Was seeing this video'Team tactics of our coach' on Ajax YT
Observe both the images and especially Van De Beek. How during overloads he repels from his teammates and moves wide taking a defender with him. This way he create space around zone 14 and it's the most dangerous zone.
But why did I explain all this? This is something which Barcelona crucially miss. Someone who can make runs in deep areas, who can run in behind the defenders through their blind side. No player currently at the team does it. This makes it easier for opp to defend
I might have explained it by showing Barcelona's matches but I don't have the energy to watch those matches. So, I picked up something similar and it quickly occurred me while watching Ten Haag video.
I was watching Koeman's Netherlands and observed this repeatedly. Netherlands created wide overloads on either sides and made correct gaps. But they lacked a runner who can exploit such gaps and pierce through Portuguese defence.
Good possibility that Koeman might struggle with a similar issue. Maybe Trinicao or Puig can handle the width aspect or maybe FB's but they don't have runners who can reach the created gaps. Maybe Barca will be bailed against low ranked teams but what about big teams?
That's why priority signings are required. Lautaro is good, no doubt but Haaland can provide solutions to these problems. He won't touch the ball much but his off the ball movements are venomous. 50M for him is a steal considering his immense potential and skillset.
The intention of this thread was to provide a basic understanding of the on-pitch issues Barca faces and explanation of how overloads actually work in the final third with the correct set of players and proper training drills. Ten Haag's words are pure gold here.

I can't recollect more big or good accounts personally(my lack of interaction comes into play
). So if you liked it then tag them as well. I am craving for retweets this time. Don't know but let's help this thread reach it big(at least its good info)
