I started using paint markers 6 months ago and look where I am now :’) [quick thread on @poscauk markers!]

A quick+dirty sheet of which colours I own including their name and number. The markers are in the same order as the samples to compare the cap to the actual colour! (yes oops I forgot about green + metallics, clearly)

Caps/colours don’t match examples:

Light Blue8/Sky Blue48 caps=v similar value
light blue=lighter than cap
sky blue=darker

Dark brown22=rich
Brown21=MUCH lighter than cap
Red Wine60=lighter

Light Orange54/Straw Yellow73/Yellow2
Yellow caps=near identical
54+73=colours similar

@poscauk sells packaged sets of “classic colors” which are less expensive than buying the colours individually, especially since they often go on sale.

I’ve bought the classic 8 (blue), classic 16 (pink), and a bunch of colour a la carte (warm yellow).

I labeled which is which-

Actually I fucked up a little, the classic 16 set includes all the initial 8 classic colours so technically the pink should overlap with the blue as well but I’m doing these on my phone and I’ve already spent a lot of time on this so I’m not fixing it haha sorry

Here’s a bonus look at which colours I use and like the most! Obviously this comes down to personal preference and what you’re using these for - I mainly do photorealistic animals, illustrative portraits and pattern design.

A lot of my favourite colours are ones I bought individually ($4-6/ea depending on currency) but my MOST USED colours are light blue, pink and white which all come in the basic 8 set!

Out of the 8 extra colours in the 16 piece set I have barely touched gold, silver, light green, brown or orange (I actually despise the orange lmao, I thought it would come in handy drawing pets and I don’t think I’ve used it once) - grey, beige and brown are versatile. Purple ok

TLDR: would recommend buying their classic 8 colour set which feels “basic” but goes a LONG way and supplement with a couple extra colours that you think are missing from your regular repertoire. As you use them up, you can replace colours eg straw yellow for yellow if you like!
