I think a big reason why miyuki behaves the way he does is because he was quite literally forced to grow up? Growing up in a single parent household with a father who wasn’t really present, having to cook dinner for himself at a young age. Let’s not forget to mention how he was +
also bullied and harassed at the very beginning of his baseball career. Then later followed by him entering high school and immediately being placed in the first string as a catcher, being mentioned in magazines, already in the eyes of the press at the age of around 15, that +
kind of pressure on someone so young especially with how popular and serious baseball is taken in japan it’s easily overwhelming for a young teenager like him. Also the role of the catcher itself is one that’s stressful and a lot to handle mentally and physically, leading +
your team on the field, making decisions on what pitches to call, being responsible for supporting your pitcher when he needs it, it’s definitely not for everyone and its a position that deserves a lot more respect and recognition. Two years later in Miyuki’s third year he gets +
chosen as the captain of Seido, yet another responsibility, one that cannot be taken lightly, not only is he supposed to watch over his pitchers but now the rest of the team as well. Keeping everyone in check both off and on field, having to look over game and player charts, +
spending time with the pitchers in the bullpens because the coaches don’t do anything..practically teaching them as well. After all the shit he’s been through, the injuries and team losses, he has never once shed a tear or shown any signs of “weakness”. He has built so many +
walls around himself. This boy who’s still just a kid carries the weight of his whole team on his back, so many burdens and on-top of all of that he has school work, exams, finals, college to worry about..He sacrificed his whole childhood for the sake of baseball and it’s +
both admirable and heartbreaking.
I just love him so much, he’s such a big rolemodel and inspiration for me he goes above and beyond for his team, always works his hardest. So incredibly supportive i think the scene that sums him up best is:
