🚨 [THREAD] 🚨
Premium Forwards
Following my thread on mid-priced forwards (£7.0m-£8.5m), I have put together a thread on the best premium forwards (£9.0m-£10.5m).
In order of FPL appeal:
1. Werner CHE £9.5m
2. Aguero MCI £10.5m
3. Martial MUN £9.0m
4. Kane TOT £10.5m
5. Vardy LEI £10.0m
Timo Werner FWD CHE
Price: £9.5m
Appearances (starts): 34 (33)
⚽️ 28 goals 🅰️ 8 assists
Per G: 👟 2.9 shots 🥅 28% conv.
⏳ 100 minutes per goal
❌ 21 big chances missed
* statistics from Bundesliga
Werner is the most-selected forward in the game with an ownership of ~39%. He was prolific for RB Leipzig in last season's Bundesliga, finishing as the 2nd top goal-scorer, and in the top 10 for assists and big chances created. Werner faces BHA, WBA, CRY & SOU in the first 5 GWs.
Sergio Aguero FWD MCI
Price: £10.5m
Appearances (starts): 24 (18)
⚽️ 16 goals 🅰️ 3 assists
Per G: 👟 2.3 shots 🥅 30% conv.
⏳ 91 minutes per goal
❌ 12 big chances missed
Aguero had the best scoring frequency in the PL 19/20, with a goal every 91 minutes. He also achieved the 2nd most FPL points/90mins amongst regular starters, beaten only by Fernandes (8.8). De Bruyne and Sterling scored 8.1 and 6.9 points/90mins respectively.
Following their GW1 blank, Pep’s side face a testing visit to Wolves. This suggests Aguero may be best targeted from GW3, when Man City play at home to Leicester before visiting Leeds a week later.
Anthony Martial FWD MUN
Price: £9.0m
Appearances (starts): 32 (31)
⚽️ 17 goals 🅰️ 6 assists
Per G: 👟 1.8 shots 🥅 29% conv.
⏳ 156 minutes per goal
❌ 10 big chances missed
Martial performed very well following the arrival of Fernandes (£10.5m) in GW25. In this time, only the Portuguese scored more FPL points, and no one scored more goals. However, reclassified as a FWD, Martial will receive one less point for a goal, and won’t receive any for a CS.
Martial starts the new campaign with a blank GW1 but then faces TOT, CHE and ARS in the opening 7 GWs. However, his record against such opponents shows managers should not be put off. Martial scored 9 goals in meetings with the top-10 sides last term, joint-top among all players.
Harry Kane FWD TOT
Price: £10.5m
Appearances (starts): 29 (29)
⚽️ 18 goals 🅰️ 2 assists
Per G: 👟 2.1 shots 🥅 29% conv.
⏳ 144 minutes per goal
❌ 7 big chances missed
Kane scored 7 goals in the 9 games following the restart, joint-top among FWDs. Spurs meet just one of last season’s top 8 sides in the first 8 GWs. 6 of those matches score just 2 in the FDR. This gives Kane the opportunity to replicate his successful end to 19/20.
Jamie Vardy FWD LEI
Price: £10.0m
Appearances (starts): 35 (34)
⚽️ 23 goals 🅰️ 5 assists
Per game: 👟 2.0 shots 🥅 32% conv.
⏳ 132 minutes per goal
❌ 18 big chances missed
Vardy won last season’s Golden Boot award, after scoring 23 goals to finish =4th in FPL on 210pts. He recorded 35 big chances in 19/20, more than any other player. Vardy is in ~16% of squads ahead of a GW1 visit to WBA. The Foxes host BUR, WHU and AVL in the first 5 GWs.
