Today's episode of #DavesCarIDService is brought to you by Professor Brainard's Flubber, the miracle gas additive that will boost your mileage- and your altitude!
*the Flubber-powered car driven by Prof Ned Brainard (Fred MacMurray) in The Absent-Minded Professor (1961) was a 1915 Ford Model T touring. 1915 was Ford's first model year for electric headlights and tapered cowl. The movie car is still part of the Walt Disney archives.
This odd duck is the Astra-Gnome, American Motors' 1956 bubble top concept car-of-the-future based on a Nash Metropolitan.

Please note: if you reply to this with pictures of, or references to, the Homermobile, I will block you. https://twitter.com/spinedoc1995/status/1299722958131417090
"LoOks LiKe tHe hOmeRmoBiLe" - 20 imbeciles every time I post a pic of a bubbletop car
Mid Century chicks dig the Astra-Gnome
Truly a dapper gent he was, and the car is a 1927-28 Buick sedan. Kinda perplexed by the box on the roof; maybe a loudspeaker? https://twitter.com/DeborahDebkru97/status/1299722728291917825
More dapper Prohibition-era gents, this time with a 1923 Moon sedan. https://twitter.com/annehayes39/status/1297203024834830339
This scene, apparently in Latvia, was passed along by a reader. My accuracy on Euro cars is sometimes lacking, but hood and fenders seem to indicate a circa 1907 Renault. https://twitter.com/tikums/status/1293507863516676096
Another swell pic passed along by a reader for ID. Car here is a 1949 Hudson Commodore coupe. Not just any '49 Commodore, but somewhat famous in the hot rod world as The Derelict Hudson. Packs a 600+ hp LS1 engine under the hood. https://twitter.com/HannahElliott/status/1293729050414858241
Some really neat shots here. Photo 1 is a 1917-24 Ford T touring (note cold weather side curtains), but gas pump and attire seem to indicate early 1930s. Photos 2 & 3 show a 1925-27 Ford T Tudor sedan. https://twitter.com/JulieWoosley1/status/1294413530855362568
From the days when the proper place for a child was in the back of a pickup, in this case a 1942-47 Ford. https://twitter.com/john1gun/status/1294413551659102210
I can't vouch for accuracy of the 1922 Butch Cassidy sighting, but if true the car on right couldn't have been his Model T. It's a 1923-26 (prior to 1923, T sedans had oval back windows). https://twitter.com/JulieWoosley1/status/1294418493249662976

1932-34 Ford Model B pickup cab on tubing frame, unusual suicide front tube axle setup with rack & pinion steering and disc brakes; 32 Ford passenger car grille, engine is a small block Chevy, mags are AR cast spokes. https://twitter.com/jstnbnss/status/1294621063972757504
eesh... dash, cowl and windshield stanchions seem to fit 1926-ish Dodge Brothers touring, but firewall doesn't quite fit. Could be remains of more than 1 car. If you wade into the pile you might find a manufacturer tag. https://twitter.com/jefflarsen80/status/1294621384761466883
On left is a 1933-34 Ford sedan; on right a 1936 Buick https://twitter.com/JRPfeff/status/1294624358346915841
Easiest way to distinguish 67 from 68 Mustang is the faux brake scoops on rear fender; this one is a 1967 https://twitter.com/Schultz_1946/status/1294624451691253760

Righteous early 60s style 1930-31 Ford Model A coupe hot rod, 32 Ford grille, cheater slicks, Swiss cheese visor, dago axle, and frogmouth scoops indicating probably a 3 deuce Stromberg 97 setup https://twitter.com/mherlhy0816/status/1294787493913559040
*"Dago axle" refers to a front axle heated and bent to achieve a lower stance, a method first seen in San Diego ("Dago" in old hot rod parlance), and in no way refers to the Italian-American community
1928-29 Ford Model A roadster pickup hot rod, 1930-31 Ford Model A fenders, small block Chevy motor https://twitter.com/ohiospud/status/1294805685742514176
rear view and YOM plate indicates it's a 1929; sprint car steering wheel, and dig the Von Dutch flying eyeball. Wheels are chrome reverse + baby Moons https://twitter.com/ohiospud/status/1294805697566302208

Relaxing my "please no more 1957 Chevys" rule here due to the awesome family pic. Car is 1957 Chevy station wagon (but not a Nomad). Pops' khaki work duds rule. https://twitter.com/andrewstreeter_/status/1294990592980721664
Thank you for your service Uncle Rudy. Cars here, from left, are 1940 Chevy sedan, 1939-40 Ford sedan, and 1933-34 Ford sedan. https://twitter.com/Trumpdebatepts/status/1294996401974161411
Best I can tell it's a 1937-ish Mopar (Dodge or Plymouth) although not 100% certain https://twitter.com/JohnEricson18/status/1295018918721904647
A handy mom and a helpful kid and a 1941 Ford Woody https://twitter.com/moodvintage/status/1295016221033795584
Hate to ruin what might have been a cool brush-with-celebrity anecdote, but the Great McQueen here is in a 1969 Pontiac Bonneville sedan, whereas you are straddling the door of a 1967 Chevy Bel Air https://twitter.com/martybeaux/status/1295167784809377796
And on that sad trombone note, I will have to call it a day on the car IDs. Safe driving, everyone.
Gotta tap the brakes to do 1 more - the hot rod bucket T in "Son of Flubber" was neither Norm Grabowski's or TV Tommy Ivo's, it was a 1915 T roadster built by Marty Hollmann. Same year as the original Flubber T from "the Absent Minded Professor." https://twitter.com/russellgoodson1/status/1300109571298660352
Well howzabout that? I had no idea when I posted this thread. Happy 112th birthday to Fred MacMurray. https://twitter.com/angiesorbel/status/1300159253928243200
