Many thousands are now marching towards Lukashenka’s official residence in Minsk, the road to which is blocked off by a phalanx of riot police and armored vehicles.

Wow. This looks like a column of tanks heading into Minsk from the Uruchye suburb. Could be a serious escalation by Lukashenka.

Meanwhile, this is the crowd in central Minsk this afternoon. Tens of thousands despite the riot police and military hardware on the streets.

A large crowd is massing outside Lukashenka’s residence in Minsk, blocked from going further by a phalanx of riot police. Video reports suggest tanks are heading to the residence, apparently to shore up its defenses.

Dark clouds are gathering over Minsk. As if a grimmer metaphor was needed...

“Love” is the word on this woman’s back. Even one of the riot police officers seems to have whipped out his smartphone to capture the moment.
