WHAT UR NOT GONNA MOTHERFUCKING DO, is ignore the the fact that kieth is very clearly a gay character and lance is, at the very least questioning, if not bisexual,,, queercoding, GOOGLE IT
& there have been so many scenes that build up their relationship from rivals to close friends to even something more,, if u disagree do this: watch the sunset scene and imagine either one of them as a girl AND THEN tell me that they are just “hanging out”,, yeah didn’t think so
my point is: for gay ppl, our love stories historically happen between the lines due to homophobia, truama & heteronormativity,, this is why ships like klance are so much more than ships, they are direct reflections of us coming to terms w/ our sexualities & trying to find love
so I beg u, esp if u are str8, to step back CHECK UR PRIVILIGE and be thankful u get EXPLICIT love stories that reflect ur experience of societal acceptance
I’m not saying u need to ship klance cuz it’s bigger than that,, just realize that for queer ppl, ships like these are very valuable to us, especially those of us that have had to struggle to be accepted & accept ourselves
that being said I WANNA SAY I DO NOT EXCUSE THE FACT THAT WE NEED TO SEE MORE EXPLICILTY QUEER CHARCTERS,,, if anything this thread highlights the importance of WHY WE NEED THEM
the fact that Shiro was explicitly gay is good BUT EVEN THEN we got a crumb of that shown to us (2 scenes out of 8 seasons to be exact),, ONE EXPLICITY GAY CHARACTER AND 2 SCENES OF HIS LOVE LIFE,,, if that doesn’t represent the problem then idk what does
in conclusion, queercoding in charcters like lance and keith is important & has historically been appreciated by queer ppl BUUUTTT we NEED more explicitly gay characters and story lines (especially for QTPOC)
