I'm a devoted fan for 21 years now, but I was never more annoyed about the fandom than I am lately.

If I were her, I wouldn't apologise either. She is entitled to have her own opinion. Just like you are. Of course it is nice when your idol agrees with you, but it isn't a big deal if they don't agree with you! Someone smart tweeted a few months ago:

»If two people agree with each other all the time, one is redundant.«
I think she used other words, but the meaning is the same and she is right about it. Normalise to have different opinions and stop whining if someone disagrees with you.

JKR's opinion can only be controversial if you make it controversial! Just imagine everyone would ignore her. Nobody would talk about it. It would be a little bit like in the German speaking fandom.

We have disagreements, we discuss our opinions politely (if you find someone, who is online), but we mostly ignore JKR. Only one of my HP real life friends knows about JKR's 'controversial' opinions. The reason why? I told her so.
Why is it so important to you what JKR says?

If you really cared about trans rights, you would talk about trans issues! You would read about what transition is like. About pros, cons and risks. You would talk about countries were trans people's rights and lives are endangered.

Hungary for example. Do you even know what's going on over there?
Do you think life will become better for trans people if you whine about JKR and the FB movies? I can't see how it will change anything for trans people.

If you want to change something: take your disappointment and anger to the real world and find something to do!
There is enough to do in the real world. All you do is complaining about JKR and how her opinions are controversial...

(by the way I'm going to ignore every comment telling me why JKR's opinion is controversial - I'm so done discussing it).

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if we will find out in about 10-15 years that JKR was right about her concerns regarding what she calls a medical scandal. When I tried to find out what my opinion is in this debate I did what I always do. I turned to science.

There are some interesting findings in neuroscience about gender dysphoria, but it's hard to get further research funded, because TRAs are like "there are no biological differences - by saying so you hurt my feelings". Damn your feelings, get a grip!

Imagine science and medicine could do research on gender dysphoria without activism holding them back. Imagine they could find what causes gender dysphoria. It could make it easier to get a diagnosis. It could improve the quality of treatment.

It might even help to create a more understanding society.
Reality is - it's hard. Research is hold back by activism, 'cause some are like: "there are no biological differences - don't hurt my feelings... Mimimimi"
There are biological differences between people. It's normal.

It doesn't make anyone worth more or less!
I have ADHD. My brain is different from neurotypicals' brains. It doesn't hurt to admit it, even though society expects me to behave like a neurotypical.

If you want to deny there are differences, you're ignorant. Science is about facts. Biology is about facts. If facts hurt your feelings, you should think about what's wrong with you.

Covid-19 won't go away, because lockdown and wearing masks hurt your feelings. Climate change won't stop and apologise, because it hurts your feelings.
The world doesn't evolve around you and science gives a damn about your opinions and feelings. That's why I work in a lab.

I can handle science people better.
Back to the Wizarding World and Fantastic Beasts. I'm done with reading tweets about people whining about JKR. I don't want to have your negativity on my feed!

You can tweet about whatever you like, but I don't have to listen if I don't want to.
I'm going to make a list. If you post more than five tweets a week whining about JKR, I'll mute you for two weeks. I'm going to continue this pattern until we start to talk about content again.

I'm here for content, not drama. I'm not willing to deal with drama anymore.
Yesterday, I had a lovely conversation about Art Deco / Art Nouveau and the Goldstein sister's clock, which looks like the entrance to magical Paris.

I want conversations like that. I want to talk about content. Not about you being disappointed by JKR. I wrote this thread before I took my ADHD meds. My impulsiveness was in control here, but I felt like I want to give in to my impulsiveness, because I am so annoyed.
