Just read a WhatsApp forward that cancels the traditional folklore of how onam came to be and I just have few things to say
The forward is pretty long but I've realized a few things from it
1. So asurans aka demons are stereotyped in 'the books'. Like they are beastly and hate gods and all that. But if there were asurans that did follow dharma and were very cool, it was because it was their "time"
And because they were blessed by the gods, they're nice.
Oh and gods are always good btw, if they did something bad, it was because it was the time to do such a thing. #fate

Now I know where the stereotype thing we see today comes from
2. Apparently, Mahabali was never stepped down by Vamanan aka Vishnu's avatar. When Vamanan grew huge and asked for 3 lands (idk how to say this properly in English sorry), Mahabali showed his head and said yeah I don't have anything else to offer so here you go.
But Vishnu was like "since you were blessed by me to be such a great guy who followed dharma" ,(ofc not because you ACTUALLY were a great guy pffft which asuran would be like that??) ,"Imma bless you with the chance of coming to your kingdom every year"
3. Idk where this thread is leading to but umm the whole point of the WhatsApp forward was that the OG story made Lord Indra and Lord Vishnu look like bad guys so gotta cancel that story and bring up a new one coz I mean how can Gods ever be wrong huh???
Imma stop ranting now thanks for reading.
