The one trait I detest about people is lying. I think we've forgotten that lying is a sin and a Gunah-e-Kabira at that. But we've chosen to overlook that. Lying has become the norm and we lie at the slightest inconvenience. Sometimes without even a reason.
Allah Says (what means): "…Indeed Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar." [Quran 40:28]

And (what means): "…Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever." [Quran 39:3]
Sufyaan Ibn Usayd, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger (PBUH) said: "The biggest breach of trust is that you tell a thing to your brother who believes it to be true, whereas you have lied to him." [Abu Daawood]
I'm in no place to tell anything. I'm a sinner and I've lied a lot too. But we should start by being concious of when we are lying. That's the first step. That's when we realize how incessantly we lie without any reason. That's where we'll start reforming ourselves.
