If you were disappointed at all by my thread RE how Valhalla was Probably Not A Thing in the viking age, keep in mind:
1. Actual history is usually way more interesting than bad pop history.
2. If you actually care about this shit, like I do pretty strongly, you should want truth
and 3. If you're a modern pagan and you believe in Valhalla, that's fine. Spirituality isn't something you can find empirical answers for and no one can tell you yours is invalid. Your faith is your faith. Do whatever. You just probably aren't doing it how they did it, is all.
Snorri is not a gospel. He lived centuries after conversion. A Christian writing for a Christian audience and even had to manufacture a preface about how the gods weren't really gods. Little of it can be taken at face value. It's virtually our only textual source, unfortunately.
