The arrogance you'd need to look at this summer and be like "WHOA you people are playing right into Trump's hands!!!", something you could say at the time (and decades after!) for every push for civil rights in US history.

The takeaways at least for me are that the fearful moderate response to these completely justified uprisings is part of the same reactionary tendency in the US that the fearful moderates are so afraid of.

And also this shit isn't just going to go away no matter what happens in November, and this summer has shown glimpses of what options are available after. Sometimes messy, but they show promise in a terrible time. Good to hold onto, good to embrace thoughtfully, bad to run from.
