A friend pointed out that telling the former middle-class of America, who are suffering from the decline, that they are all stupid for voting for Trump doesn’t help solve the problem. Trump lies to a lot of hurting people, and maybe they’re not all stupid or racist?

Will absolutism be the end of us? Seeing our enemies as 100% entirely evil and stupid… we’re all guilty of it. The opioid crisis is an indicator that there is a generation of working Americans who were once the middle class who are now suffering greatly.

An interesting point was brought up to me tonight: What if the former middle class of America who are now struggling to survive are voting for Trump as revenge on everyone else? What if they know he’s going to burn it all down and that’s why they vote for him?

So many complex and nuanced angles on this whole thing. We’re all so fried. Everything is so awful right now. I’m sure I’m going to regret processing this out loud on Twitter, but the ideas struck me is fascinating, and we need to be sharing all ideas to try to fix things.
