I’m convinced that there is no group today that despises the working class more than the folks justifying looting and the destruction of businesses.

I grew up poor. My immigrant parents worked 12+ hour days to get their business going. I worked on the weekends to help.

Still, it was more likely they could make their lives better as their own bosses....
...than have to overcome the roadblocks that come with the total lack of cultural capital when climbing a white-collar, corporate ladder.

This is the reason many other immigrants I grew up with also preferred small business. Hard work mattered more than social adeptness.....
But business is risky, even with all the hard work.

My parents lost theirs in the 2008 recession, and were saddled with debt for nearly a decade after. It was painful to work so hard for a slightly better life, then to lose it all again.

I learned a lot from all this.
When I graduated, I searched for white-collar work. I wanted a dependable income, a predictable work schedule, and the relief of knowing someone else had to make the tough decisions.

Not to mention, having health insurance for the first time in my life, and going to a dentist!
It was clear soon enough that (with a few exceptions) my highly educated white-collar colleagues were not like me. They didn’t understand what life is like outside of their circles (and were unaware of this ignorance), and yet had a major influence on shaping the world we share.
Today, most of my social circle comprises of what would rightfully be described as “the elite”.

And as I learn more about how they live and how they think, I’ve become certain that many social movements on the left are *wholly* dictated by the preferences of this few.
