Thread on Feminism and Islam:
As a student of Literature, I can tell you laypeople see Feminism as jus one branch Radical Feminism which is a sub group of Feminism, they assume all of us when women say men are trash, those women are leanin towards Rad Feminism, what they don't +
know is there is Marxist Feminism, there is Socialist Fem, different movements, within Feminism that took part across the globe to fight for women's rights and injustices, there is Black Fem as well ! Jus as we have Dalit Fem. Now as I've also been studying Islamic Fiqh and ++
History ,alhamdulilah have seen over the years how the prophet saw and his followers and succeedin generations holistically gave rights to women as Islam prescribed but aft that fr various reasons it dwindled, so as Muslims we are aware of this and prefer this holistic support++
Over Feminism which is beautiful as it fights for justice, but if you see Feminism existed because of support of men and women alike not women alone, but at times inspirations like Maya Angelou (my fave) and Morrison and so many others who fought alone, yet we need men to ++
Understand and coexist, because Aisha ra too lived alone as a young widow, taught so many great Sahabis and flourished as a woman because of the support of like minded men who learnt under her supported her looked up to her !!!
To this day she inspires, though I ve been readin bout her since I was a school kid :)
